CHARITY PARTNER

Motor Neurone Disease Association

This year's charity is the Motor Neurone Disease Association. We’ve chosen this charity to honour Tony Bond, who sadly passed away from this terrible illness last Christmas.

Why we chose the Motor Neurone Disease Association

Tony Bond spent over 20 years working in the Health & safety sector both in PR but also leading the sales on Safety & Health Expo, which at the time was the UK’s leading H&S trade show. Before entering the sector Tony had a top-flight rugby union career and earned six caps for England.

Tony was a great character and is greatly missed. In Tony’s honour we would ask you to either donate to his family’s chosen charity or take part in the charity auction, which will take place on the night at the Safety & Health Excellence Awards.

The MND Association is the only national charity in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland dedicated to supporting individuals living with Motor Neurone Disease and their families.

Their primary mission is to provide comprehensive care and support through a network of local branches, volunteer visitors, and specialist care centres. By offering services such as equipment loans, financial grants, and a dedicated helpline, the charity ensures that those affected by this life-shortening condition can navigate their daily challenges with dignity and expert guidance.

Beyond direct support, the Association is a global leader in the fight against the disease, investing millions of pounds into cutting-edge medical research to find a cure. They act as a powerful voice for the MND community, lobbying the government and health services to improve access to treatments and fast-track essential benefits. Through their tireless campaigning and advocacy, the charity works toward a future where MND is no longer a terminal diagnosis, while providing a vital lifeline for those living with the reality of the disease today.
